Current research
Acute lung injury
Through the NIH-funded STRIVE T35 program at The Ohio State University, I am studying macrophage mTORC1 signaling in an endotoxin-induced mouse model of acute lung injury with Joshua Englert, MD. This preclinical work examines how macrophage signaling shapes the inflammatory response in lung injury, with relevance to the biology of acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Pediatric infectious diseases
At Nationwide Children’s Hospital, my current projects include work on false-positive congenital cytomegalovirus screening tests—accepted for publication in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal—and a study comparing small for gestational age with intrauterine growth restriction in infants with congenital CMV. The projects focus on diagnostic interpretation and clinically meaningful differences within neonatal infection.

We toured NIH facilities, spoke with researchers, and attended rounds in the Clinical Center—a chance to see how questions developed at the bench connect with clinical investigation and public service.
